You will meet your group and your guide in Manhattan, close to 175st subway station at 10AM and hit the road to the stunning Silver Lake forest located near Tuxedo Park, Upstate New York. If you want to meet us at the trail-head -Sterling Lake visitor center- WITH YOUR OWN CAR car it is possible! You will pay $95 directly to your guide the day of the retreat. Please contact us.We’ll start this easy 4-mile loop trail with a quick stop at the park visitor center, where we’ll learn about the history and geology of the area and take in a stunning view of the lake from the center’s back porch.
Our hike begins on a paved entrance road. We’ll cross a beautiful grassy field and then pass the stone foundations of a former church, the ruins of the Sterling Furnace, and the concrete and brick remnants of former mining operations.Just beyond these ruins, we’ll have another beautiful view of the lake, and it’s also a chance to take gorgeous photos. After passing a quiet, sparkling pond, we’ll reach the lake and a small and private sandy beach. We will pause for a rejuvenating 90 minute yoga and meditation practice (respecting social distancing). We will lay out our mats, take off our packs and boots and stretch out in the fresh air, surrounded by pine trees and sunlight dancing off the water. The intention of our practice will be centered around reconnecting with nature and re-balancing of our female energy through breath work, asana and meditation. Together, we will practice gentle poses that open our hearts and stretch the muscles and tendons we've worked through our hike. We will start and end our practice with the reading of passages by the female Tibetan Buddhist nun Pema Chodron. Ending with a guided meditation on our mats and a walking meditation through the last portion of the trail before we will recall our intentions and complete our hike together! This easygoing loop finishes at the visitor center parking lot, where your guide will drive you back to the city. You’ll be back home around 5pm.
This Escape is a 12-person adventure (10 clients, 1 female yoga leader and 1 female guide).
